Coin Flip

Toss one to ten virtual coins. Fair 50/50, 3D animation, running tally with streaks.

How the coin flipper works

A plain two-sided virtual coin. Pick how many you want to flip (one, or up to ten at once), hit the big button, each coin spins on its own and lands on its own side. The tally on the right counts heads versus tails across every coin you have ever flipped on this device, with percentages that drift closer to 50/50 the more you flip — the law of large numbers in action, visible in bars.

Provably fair, every toss

Each flip is picked using the browser cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with equal odds for heads and tails. We don't use the standard Math.random() that most sites fall back on, which can be weakly seeded and biased by platform. Over hundreds of flips you'll see the two counts stay within a percent or two of each other.

Streaks and the gambler's fallacy

The streak counter tracks consecutive matching results (five tails in a row, say). It's fun to watch, but remember: the coin has no memory. Each flip is independently 50/50 whatever came before. A streak of ten heads doesn't make tails more likely on the next flip. If you want to test this yourself, flip a hundred times and watch the streak numbers settle into exactly what probability predicts.

FAQ

Is the coin flip provably fair?

Yes. Each flip uses the browser cryptographic random generator with equal odds for heads and tails. Over many flips you'll see very close to 50/50.

Can I flip multiple coins at once?

Yes. Pick 1 to 10 coins. Each one flips with its own animation and lands on its own outcome. The heads/tails tally keeps a running total across every coin.

Does it save my totals?

Yes. Heads, tails, current streak and longest streak stay in your browser between visits. Reset clears them.

How is this different from a real coin?

A real coin is slightly biased by weight and how you throw it. This flipper is pure software, so each toss is a clean 50/50.

Why does streak pause with more than one coin?

Streaks only make sense for a sequence of single flips. With multiple coins flipped together, there's no single outcome to extend the streak with. Flip one at a time to track your streak.
